Why Not Teach In China
Three years ago, after an unsuccessful year-long job search in Canada, I found myself in the unenviable position of relying on the mercies of good friends to give me a place to sleep. According to my degrees, I'm an educator, but I had been out of the industry for fourteen years and everywhere I looked there seemed to be an overabundance of teachers and too few jobs. Just getting onto a decent supply list was a struggle. I must have made more than one hundred applications, but I didn't even get an interview.
